Thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) are polymeric materials that combine properties of elastomer, or, as the case may be, rubber (elasticity, flexibility) with processing properties of thermoplastic (simpler workability, recyclability). They are polymers with a two-phase structure consisting of mutually non-mixable hard and soft components. Their main disadvantage lies in the limited use at higher temperatures. They are used for example for the production of gaskets, hosepipes and tubes, pump diaphragms, wire insulations and so on.
